Hi Team,
When we receive an ECS ticket, we create the Epic ticket, and then we create the BA Task ticket from the Epic ticket. Can you find a way to auto-link the client ECS ticket to the BA TASK ticket?
Thanks,
Rohith.
Hi @Trudy Claspill
Whenever we have received the client ticket, then we are manually creating the Epic ticket internally and then we are creating BA-Task from the Epic ticket.
we didn't create any rules for that. We need the rule to create the auto link the client ticket to the BA-Task.
Thanks!!

For an Automation Rule to create the link you would need to specify and event that would trigger that rule, such as the creation of the BA Tsk issue. You would also have to somehow identify the issues that need to be linked. How would the rule know the ticket to which the Task should be linked? Are you recording the ticket id in the issue? If not, what information is available from the BA Task that the rule could use to find the correct ticket?
It seems to me that if the BA Task issue is being created manually then it would be a simple task to also manually link it to the ticket at the same time.
What problem are you trying to solve by automating this?

Hi Trudy Claspill,
Thanks for the update, is there a way to have one more parent filed to capture the client ticket.
Below is us creating the BA task from the epic ticket. Where you see parent, can you add another parent so that we can link the ECS ticket?

Hello @Rohith k
You cannot add a second "Parent" field.
You can add the Linked Issues field to the screen and that would give you the ability to link the issue being created to other issues by entering the other issue's key.
You will have to ask your Jira Administrators to make that change. I have no access to your instance.

Hi @Trudy Claspill ,
Thanks for the update, we will check with my team and add the Linked Issues field.
Thanks,
Rohith.
