When a user is trying to mention another user, for example in a comment on an issue or in the description field, we are currently seeing a lot of strange users being suggested. See the screenshot below.
It appears that they are some sort of "application user", however, with the exception of the eSign and Automation plugin listed there, none of the mentioned components are actually even in use by us (we don't have Jira Service Management, Spreadsheets or Statauspage, and we do not have any links to Outlook or Teams set up).
These users are not listed in the "Assignee" user picker for example, they appear to only show up when mentioning users.
Is there any way to prevent this behavior, i.E. only suggest users that are actually active in the instance?
The fact that a lot of application users contain the phrase "for Jira" makes this problem especially visible when trying to mention users called "Jim" for example ;-)
There is no way to remove these add-on users from the list. Not one that I know of at least. The users are not in the assignee list most likely because the add-on users group do not have the assignable user permission. You can view and watch this issue https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-69084 which grants the ability to site-admins to delete addon users which are not active anymore.
Let me know if that helps.
Hi @Alex Koxaras _Relational_ ,
thank you for your explanation, that makes sense as to why these users are appearing in some places but not in others.
It's unfortunate that there isn't a solution at the moment, but I will vote on the issue you provided.
Thank you, and kind regards
William
