Reindexing project issues

I was importing issues from a project and have imported them into the same project. As a result a large number of issue index are not having any issues. Now How do I reindex them?

Any work around?

For example I had issues 1 to 250. Now its showing from 251-500. it gives a false impression that we have 500 issues in that project. I want to reindex it to 1-250. How do I do that?

I am using Jira software cloud.

hello, it looks like they've removed the function to reindex on cloud overall:

also, I guess you are talking about issue key, eg you have an issue with a key PRJ-450, which makes you think you have 450 issues in your project PRJ, but I feel like there's no way to fix it. consider it not as a counter, but as a unique identifier

IF I create a new project and move all the existing issues in the new project ? Will that work?

Yes, that should do it. Remember that you can create new project that shares configuration with the old one, so you dont miss any schemes and stuff.
