@Preem Prakassh Dayaal to answer to your new info:

I will try to elaborate here

I have a role which is a default one for all users for that project

so Default Role 1 - > User 1 , User 2 , User 3 .......

Now my requirement is That for User 1 and User 3 I want to ensure they  do not have access to assignee filed (they can view but it should be disabled for them ) only for one project

You case is rather simple, but there are a few steps you have to take care of:

  • Create a new role for the new users, called e.g. "New Users"
  • Remove the new users from the default role
  • Place the new users to the default role
  • Create a new permission scheme (if your scheme is shared with other projects)
  • Add the new role "New Users" to all desirable permissions except the "Assign issues" permission

Let me know if the above are clear.

To reply to your last comment:

Thanks Alex , this really helps.

  • Create a new permission scheme (if your scheme is shared with other projects) - this could be a challenge for me as a scheme is used for the project
  • Add the new role "New Users" to all desirable permissions except the "Assign issues" permission

Let me try further and comeback

You should change your permission scheme ONLY if it is shared with other projects. If you use it only for this project, then don't create a new one. If you go to your project > project settings > permission > edit permissions, then you will see a screen like the one below:

shared by.png

If this scheme is shared to more than 1 project, then create a new one. If not, then continue using this one.

Hi Alex

I am stuck in another issue now

While users of a group are restricted from assignment , what has become a challenge is that they are unable to assign at all.

Is there a possible that those users who have assignment restriction can assign to select users and not to all  ?

If I have solved your initial question then first mark my answer as accepted in order to help others find answers to similar questions. And then create a new question about your new enquiry. Much appreciated!

Hi Alex

My scenario is different

At the project level , at a user level I need to restrict this access

Can you please elaborate further on this

Regards

Preem

@Preem Prakassh Dayaal your scenario isn't really helpful to understand what you want to achieve:

At the project level , at a user level I need to restrict this access

Restricting the assignee can only be done by this permission. Users who haven't granted this permission, can't assign issues. You have to provide further details of what your scenario is, in order to provide proper guidance.

@Alex Koxaras -Relational- pls help me in this scenario

Project : P1

users : u1, u2 , u3, u4 ...

u1 and u4 should have restricted assign issues access and can only assign issues to u3

However remaining users should be able to assign issues to all

This is my problem statement
