Retrieve issues assigned to a team but linked to an epic sitting in another team

zahir.nuckchady November 8, 2022

Hi,

I am trying to get a query to list all the tasks sitting in Jira Project B but which are linked to an Epic that is not in Project B. The query should also be able to list new issues if for example a new task is added in Jira Project B but whose epic is Omega and belongs under Project A.

In the example below, I want to get the issues in brown only.

Appreciate the support. Thanks.Jira Deps.JPG

Hi @zahir.nuckchady

As you're on Jira Cloud, the correct answer is to get an app that provides JQL extensions you're looking for.

With standard JQL, you can only get a list of issues and export them to Excel for further processing. This works if you want to do a one-off analysis. If your use case is more dynamic than that, look beyond standard Jira.

Standard JQL doesn't easily allow it, but you can quickly find the results using our professional indexing service JQL Search Extensions

You can use this query to find tasks from project B that have an Epic from project A linked

issue in linkedIssuesOfQuery("type = epic and project = A") and type = task and project = B

Check out the documentation for more examples.

If you have any other questions, please contact our support. We’ll be happy to help you!
Best regards,
Maurício

Thanks Mauricio. I suppose that if only 5 users will need the extension, we will still need to pay the license for our 1200-1500 Jira users who are on cloud?
