Hi, I have a team-managed project on Jira (Cloud). This board has gone live and there are issues created previously using the issue type named System Name. I have created another issue type named New Form. I want to "merge" the New Form into the System Name so that when users create a new issue, it will be the New Form. But I also want the data for the previously created issues in the System Name to retain and not be overridden by the New Form. Is this possible?
Hi @Nur Fatin
As you want to 1) keep all previous information in the system form and 2) want to use only the new form, you need to migrate (merge, you call it) the issues from one issuetype to the other.
This is perfectly possible using an issue move,
I hope this helps,
Dick
Hi Nur - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
If I understand you correctly, you want to add a new issue type and be able to use it in addition to the existing issue type. Yes, you can do that.

Hi, @Nur Fatin
Welcome to Atlassian community. Description is not very clear, but as I understood you want to replace one issue type with another.
You have 2 variants:
1. Create new issue type "New Form" and move all "System Name" issues to new issue type. They will change type and after that you can remove "System Name" issue type from project.
2. Create new issue type "New Form", dont't remove "System Name", but people will be able to create both issue types.

Hi @Evgenii @John Funk thank you for your prompt response.
Perhaps I could elaborate more. Under "System Name" issue types, I have a list of fields. Example:
Technology Owner: Sarah
Business Owner: Tom
Question 1: Is this time sensitive?
Question 2: Is this critical?
Question 3: What is the severity?
Currently, I have 50 issues created using "System Name" issue type.
However, I have created another issue type "New Form", which have these fields. Example:
Technology Owner(s): Sarah, Tina
Business Owner(s): Tom
Question 1: Is this urgent?
Question 2: Does this affect business?
Question 3: Can customers access the data?
Question 4: Does it impact customers?
Question 5: What is the severity tier?
In the "New Form" there are additional questions and new questions and also new named fields like Technology Owner(s) instead of Technology System Owner in "System Name".
Is it possible to have one issue type "New Form" so that when a user creates a new issue, it uses the "New Form" instead of "System Name"? But I also want to retain the previously 50 issues created as per "System Name".
I want to be able to see the previously 50 issues created having the "System Name" fields but only when new issues are created, it uses the "New Form" because now the "System Name" will be the "New Form".
I hope this helps.

@Nur Fatin you can use 2 issue types, or one issue type. You can't replace one issue type by another, and still be able to see removed issue type in project.
