Hello! My company is using a Kanban board to track our engineering tasks etc. I am looking for a way to track what would effectively be a sprint inside Kanban. I am aware that "there aren't sprints in Kanban", but for arguments sake if I wanted to try to push for weekly goals of X number of tasks completed vs. how many were actually completed and how many total tasks are left. How would I go about doing that? Something similar to a burndown graph, the one that is available only tracks sprints and I've tried to use the gadgets that are available by default but cannot find anything that does what I am asking (or maybe I don't know how to set them up properly) If anyone could help I would really appreciate it.
Thank You!
Hi @Rthomas
Welcome to the community!
Are you trying to show alignment to a planned amount of work completion over time, see progress and issues impacting flow of work, or something else?
Showing a plan (like the scope of work for a sprint) may be difficult with the tools in JIRA's Kanban reporting...out of the box. You could use the Cumulative Flow Diagram (CFD) and narrow the filters and time range to see throughput and WIP over time. Might that help you have visibility to progress?
Best regards,
Bill
In addition of reporting, if you need to track Sprint Goal type of activities in similar fashion, you could try our Kanban Goal plugin called Better Goals 🎯
This enables to visualise and configure with a single click your teams goals for a given iteration:
