Security Level Question

Neil Shah November 28, 2018

Once a security level has been applied to a project and the existing issues have been migrated

If we hide the security level field on the edit and create screen any new issues that are created do not have the security level applied

Please advise why that is?

I thought they would auto apply just that the field is hidden.

Hi @Neil Shah

In your security scheme, have you specified a default security level to use?

Neil Shah November 28, 2018

Yes.

Do you see the security level field when creating an issue. If not the user doesn't have permission to set it.
if your user has permission, they can only see security levels that are members of so this may be none.

Neil Shah November 28, 2018

Just checked and yes i do have permission however when new issues get created it does not assign it the default security level e.g. security level x. I think it must default it to none. Any ideas why?

Neil Shah November 28, 2018

When i create a new issue i cannot even see the security level field because i have hidden it.

Hi

On my server is defaults to none if the default security level is not one I am a member of. But I can manually select others.

are you server or cloud?

Just checked , this works if I hide security level but I have to be a member of the default level

Neil Shah November 28, 2018

I am on the cloud i think. How have you hid the security level. I have hid it from field configuration. I am also a member of the default security level. Just to check how do you know if your a member of the security level.

Hi

I hid the security level in the same way - I'm using a server instance.

I don't think there's a quick way to see your security levels. If you can access the sec level in edit, the options presented are your memberships

If you look at the at the security level set ups, the memberships are defined there. But they may be groups or roles so you'd need to check that you're in them.

When i click on create an issue or edit an issue i cannot even see the security level field is that because i hid it from the field configuration form?I  checked the memberships and am in there.

Maybe the cloud behaves differently but there is nothing in the docs to suggest that.

I get the results expected. Only get none if none is a default option.

If you query the issues with security level as a column , are any set?

Not sure what else to suggest without being on your server

Ok

the difference on my server may be that I left security visible on edit/view to see values and only hid it for create
