I'm new to Jira. I created a security scheme and associated it to a project. When I create a new issue, the security level field displays without issue. When I try to edit an existing issue, it won't display. The field also doesn't display in the issue layout. I am administrator for Jira and for the project, the field isn't hidden and the helper didn't work because the field displays on the new issues and the helper isn't available to search when editing existing issues. What am I missing?
Check your screen and issue layouts and ensure the field is included.
Hi Randy,
It doesn't display in issue layouts but it does display in the screen as configured if you click the link in layouts to edit fields for the screen. Why would it not display on layouts but be in the screen? It also isn't hidden or required.
Thanks,
Megan

Heya Megan! Your comment on the course didn't show for me through disqus, but got an email and found your post here.
Was your project maybe created as a Next Gen project or are you on the new issue view? That might interfere with the feature.
If you're still having trouble, just send me an email (on my author profile page) and we'll set up some time to figure it out. Most of that course was done on Jira Server, so I might need to walk through it with you on Jira Cloud to see what the deal is.

@Megan Day also check permissions. The field wont show if a user isnt provisioned to see it via the permission scheme.

Thanks @Jim Weaver and @Randy. It isn't a permissions issue, but I was working on it on a trial which requires the new issue view so that is likely the culprit. Appreciate the help!
