I have 2 releases X & Y and some user stories.

In the backlog view I'm selecting Release X but on the right side seeing release Y in the headline.

Why?

Hello @Yaniv L

What you have highlighted is the name of the Sprints. That has no bearing on what will display when you select a Release from the Versions pane.

When you select a Release in the Versions pane your issue list will be reduced to the issues where the selected Release has been added to the Fix Version/s field. Notice for each issues displayed there is a gray lozenge that says "Release X". The screen is additionally showing you the Sprints to which those issues have been assigned.

It is very confusing, especially when the selected release is X buy Y is displayed.

Any way to avoid/change it?

When you are viewing the Backlog screen and you apply a filter (for Version, or Epic, or another filter) you cannot disable the display of Sprint Names.

If it is confusing to you that the sprint names include Release Y when you are filtering for Release X, then you have two choices:

1. Don't include Release names in your Sprint Names

2. Don't include issues that have the Fix Version/s specified as "Release X" in sprints that are named "Release Y".

As I said, the filter by Version is looking at the Fix Version/s field for the issues. The Sprint Name has nothing directly to do with the filtering.
