Server Jira Core install on same server as Jira

Hello,

I am currently running Jira on an in house server (Windows) and I am looking at installing Jira Core.

When I start installing Jira Core, it seems that Core wants to install where Jira is installed.

Does Core not install a separate instance like Confluence? What updates will be performed?

If it installs along with Jira why can't I just install all the templates?

Thank you,

"Jira" is "Jira Core".  It was renamed at version 7.0.

Jira Core is a platform you can add other applications to.  Currently Jira Software and Jira Service Desk are the two applications available at the moment.

What version of "Jira" have you already installed?  Why are you trying to install another Jira?  (Not that there's anything wrong with doing that, just that you might be better off just using the Jira Core you already have)

Hi Nick,

I am currently running Jira Software 8.3.1.

I was interested in Core for the business side.  On the business side we are using Podio and I want to migrate to Jira.

I have been trying to setup some projects in Jira which would reflect what is being done in Podio.  With that effort I have been struggling with so I thought Core and its templates would be something to try.

In Jira when creating a project there is a business section is that the same? Are there templates which reflect Core and how its being promoted for business?

As you have Jira Software, you already have Core - Software runs on top of it.

I'd skip the second install, and have a look at the business project types available in your current Jira.
