Set a due date to an epic

Mauro Biscotti March 6, 2018

Dear sirs, I'm just a beginner in Jira, but it seems that the software has a very poor usability. For example, I'm trying to create an Epic and set a due date.

I ensured I have the "Edit Issue" and "Schedule Issue" permissions.

No way. The filed does not appear editable.

The online instructions of course are useless. They simply state to set permissions, and this does not work.

Very disappointing.

@Mauro Biscotti, You mention the field does not appear editable. Can you elaborate in which view you see the Due Date field and it is not editable, e.g. View screen, Edit screen, Create screen, etc.

Jack, thank you for your kind answer.

This happened in the view of the epic that is shown when you click on the item in the kanban board. I think it is a view screen (what is an edit screen? There is no "edit" button to go to an edit view. You simply click on the field and you edit its value)

The label was showing, but no way to edit the field.

After an hour of tentatives, I "added" the field to the type of issue (epic). It started to work. But this is complete nonsense.

I expect the field:

- to be the same for all views, editable or not editable, for a given user, for a given entity

- I expect it to be present of absent, editable or not editable.

Having the field there, not editable (despite the permissions) and then making it editable by adding it to the type of issue is completly illogic.

At the end I did it, however. I don't understand why it has to work this way, but I did it.

Thank you again.
