I might be asking a question that has been answered before but somehow I did not get the full picture of how to fulfill this. 

How to Set a new issue type that has a restricted view only for a certain groups in Team managed jira?

Hello @Mimi Peters 

Note that in Team Managed projects Issue Restrictions can be used to restrict access to Types of issues only for Project Roles, not for user groups.

Additionally restrictions can be placed on individual issues

Hi Trudy,

The padlock is not visible for me and not found anything called "Restrict Issue", perhaps I need to set the whole project access to Limited or Private first?

Do you meet the prerequisites mentioned in the first article?

• You must either be on the Jira Standard or Premium license plans.

• You are assigned to a role that has the SET_ISSUE_SECURITY permission. Admins and users assigned to the Member role are given this permission by default. Learn more on how to grant permissions to roles in next-gen.

Yes we are on Jira Standard and I can set issue security as I did that for CMP before, mmh perhaps we should contact Jira support?

What type of project are you working with; Service, Software, or Business/Work Management?

It doesn't appear the Issue Restriction is a feature that is available for Team Managed  Business/Work Management projects. I haven't found the documentation that says that, but when I look at the permissions assigned to the Administrator role for such a project in a Premium subscription, the role does not include the Restrict Issue permission. I do see that permissions in the Administrator role for Team Managed Software projects, though.

oh mine is Business/Work Management, as I only want to use a simple workflow for task management and use a nice Dashboard to document the type and volume of workload. Its just one of the task we wanted to hide it from the rest. 

From the look of it, its better for me to change from Business/Work Management to Software project but using TMPs. Can I convert the current Business/Work Management TMP to Software project TMP?

No, there is no feature for converting projects.

You would have to create a new project, customize it to match the original project, and then move issues from the original project to the new project.

There are challenges associated with moving issues between Team and Company Managed projects. There is an article about that here.

You may face similar challenges when moving issues between Team Managed projects. I would recommend you more only one or a very small number of issues to validate the process before moving all of them.

Also note that there is functionality available in Work Management projects that is not available in Software projects, such as

- the pre-built dashboard on the project Summary page.

- the Calendar view

- the Timeline view

- the List view
