Set available option in version field

I create a custom JIRA field of type 'Version'. I need to be able to set the available Version values in this field upon loading the JIRA Create/Edit form.  Can someone show an example Groovy script to do this?  Thank you so much.

Hi,

Why do you want to use the custome field "Version"? You standart field, and in this field will be an available Version value. Change your screens for Create and Edit and add to this screens field Version

I need to be able to set the available values on the fly in this field.  The reason to use a custom Version is for easier maintenance of the versions.
