I have installed 1st Jira Data Center on 1st server with MS SQL database setup successfully using the evaluation Jira Data center. However, when I tried to install the 2nd Jira cluster server and use the same MS SQL database for database setup as like 1st cluster server, I got the error as below:
"You have specified a database that is not empty, please specify an empty database. If you want to upgrade an existing installation, please follow these instructions instead."
Please let me know how I can setup the database for Jira Data Center on the 2nd cluster using the same MS SQL database.
Hello Mei-Fang and welcome to the Community!
Congratulations on moving forward with setting up Jira Datacenter. It looks like you’ve made it rather far into the process and you’re well into the deployment phase. Something to be aware of with Jira Datacenter is that all instance of Jira in the same cluster will share a common database. There is no need to configure the database per Jira server. Along with this, all of the Jira servers will share a common shared directory for the applications.
To help explain a bit more of this process, there is a detailed guide to walk you through the steps of setup with Jira Datacenter. Ensure you go through the “Before you begin” steps to configure everything before installing. You may find this guide at Installing Jira Data Center along with additional supporting documentation at How to set up Atlassian Data Center.
I hope this proves helpful and you’re able to move forward with your Jira Datacenter installation.
Regards,
Stephen Sifers
All I need just setup the database on the 1st node. Thank you very much!
