Show structure in a Plan

Khaoula ATALLAH July 31, 2023

Hi everyone,

I wanted to use the Plan functionality to show a full structure in Jira.

What I'm expecting is:

- Show the high level issue type and all its dependencies

Scenario:

  • I have an issue type called 'program' which I'm linking as a "Parent link" to epics across different projects.
  • I created a filter using the option "portfolioChildIssuesOf" so I can see epics across project linked to a parent issue
  • I used that filter in the plan creation
  • Somehow the plan shows only the Epics
  • It doesn't display the Parent issue nor the child issues (taks and subtasks)

Is there any configuration that needs to be done to meet my expectations?

Thank you !

Hi @Khaoula ATALLAH and welcome to the community!

Your query should look something like this (I'm using TEST as my project key):

key = TEST-1 OR issue in porfolioChildIssuesOf(TEST-1)

This should pull in the parent program and all child issues all the way down to sub-task.  Your plan filter should default to show all issue types, but you'll want to click Filter on your plan to verify the hierarchy is showing Program down to sub-task.

Hi Mark, Thank you so much for the explanation. Actually I used the exact same functionality and somehow in my plan I only see Epic issues.

Can you confirm that you have no exclusions set in the plan settings?
