Software cloud premium pricing

Steve McAfee April 22, 2019

I know the pricing is not set yet, but I see $14 per user as a tentative number. Would we need to buy this for all users or is it something we can buy for product owners and leads only? At $14/mo, if it is mandatory for every user the price will be too high and I will not waste my time looking at this. We have a lot of jira users that are not active developers, they are support staff, field engineers, etc.

thanks

Hi @Steve McAfee Thanks for your interest in Jira Software Premium. A couple important details to note:

-The product is only in early access so the pricing is subject to change.

-You would have to opt in all Jira Software users to Jira Software Premium for the instance you're upgrading.

-As you probably know our pricing is progressive meaning it changes (becomes cheaper) depending on how many users you have. The more users you have, the cheaper the price becomes. That continues to be the case with Jira Software Premium. So with the current proposed pricing, it's more like Jira Software Premium will cost about ~2x  per user what you're paying today for Jira Software rather than $14 / user. If you have a lot of Jira users, your average cost per user will be an order of magnitude cheaper than $14/user.

Let me know if you have any other questions I can help answer about Jira Software Premium.

Atlassian Really needs to rethink this pricing model. I know of many companies that have been turned away from adding additional Atlassian products to their subscription because it means they would have to double/triple/quadruple the cost per user even when 90% of the users do not fully utilise the core product features. It's not a very fare pricing model once you start looking at multiple Attlassian products. Because of this it is a real turnoff, meaning Attlassian ends up with no sale.

Surely there is a way you can price it so it is more fairly based on usage. Even it if was just a base Product unlock price + $10 a user that uses the core features of that product.

For example if you have a lot of users using Jira Service Desk they have no use at all using the Jira Development features.

One additional important detail I forgot to mention is that the product is free while it's in early access and there's no commitment to buy :).

Drug dealers always give you the first taste free to get you hooked on a product you don't need. :)

That's an order of magnitude more than current pricing. Where did you see that number?

Good find. Given that Bitbucket Premium is $5/month/user the figure of $14 seems overly high to me. But Atlassian can always drop the price of course
