Stop notifications to Assignee when action is performed from JIRA UI

Silvia Goljerova April 27, 2018

How can we turn off notifications when we ourselves commented on an issue, yet receive the notification, when we created an issue using email?

Our notification schema is set to notify Reporter and Assignee on Issue Created, and Issue Commented (among others).  In order to receive email notifications when users create tickets using inbound email.  we resorted to having to set user profiles to 'Notify me'.  This creates significant noise in our mailboxes.  Whenever we comment on an issue from the UI, we also receive a notification of our own comment.  This does not occur when the comment is added using inbound email (which we like!).

Thanks!

If should set the My Changes field in the User Profile to "Do not notify me". You will not receive any notification if a change was made by you.

Yes, but per my testing, then I won't receive notifications for tickets I created using email, which is a feature that I would like to keep.

Only if there was a way exclude the comment notifications when creator = assignee....

You can either receive notification from all your own actions or not. You can not choose from which actions you want to receive notifications. It is either all or nothing.

I'm a developer.  So, that's not good enough. There must be a way.  Thanks though.
