Stories not showing on kanban board

Guys , this is not magic.  I've created a set of stories, and I just wanted to add them to the kanban board.  There are no filters, everything is set as default from when a kanban project is created, so I would have assumed that if you create an issue it would straight away be in the backlog.  It appears no where, why????  And I have tried every technique I can see (online tutorials etc) and cannot get any of them to show on the board???

Have you ever checked the configuration of the Kanban Filter and Kanban board sub-filter?
