Story Point field not available on team-managed project

louise.simmonds October 20, 2021

Hi,

I'd like to add the Story Point field to my team managed project but I can only add Story Point Estimate. How can this field be made available for addition to the relevant issue types?

I am aslo missing the "view workload by assignee" feature when planning Sprints - is this a related issue?

Many thanks,

Louise

Hi @louise.simmonds -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Team-managed projects use the "Story point estimate" field and Company-managed projects use the "Story Points" field.

Kind regards,
Bill

Thanks - is there any way to include the Story point field in the team-managed config? I think it's causing a knock on impact of not providing the workload by assignee feature in the sprint backlog which is very frustrating.

Here is the answer from Atlassian on this:

https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/Story-point-Story-point-estimate-fields/qaq-p/1024757#U1026417

In short

- Company mangaed project (Classic projects) - keep story estimates in a field called "Story Points"

- Team managed projects (Next-gen projects) - keep story estimates in a field called "Story Point Estimate"

Hope this helps ;)

Hi,

Thanks but unfortunately this resolution is no longer viable as the option to switch off new issue b=view has been disabled!

Hi @louise.simmonds

Would you please explain what you mean by "it's causing a knock on impact of not providing the workload by assignee feature in the sprint backlog"?

I just re-checked a team-managed project which uses Story Point Estimate, and selecting a single person for assignee in the backlog view correctly rolls up the information.

Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill,

When selecting a single person I do get the points for that assignee, but I'm looking for the overall summary of points to assignee. This was standard in Jira Server but seems to be available in a company-managed project in Cloud but not a team-managed one.

In the company project i am looking at, in the Backlog view under the Sprint name and before the issues list there are some user icons and then an eplisis where I can view the workload by assignee.

My question is, how can I enable this on my team-managed project?

It may not be a team vs. company issue or related to story points vs. story points estimate this is just my working assumption.

I just want to see this summary :-)

Hi @louise.simmonds

I do not believe that view is possible with Jira Cloud at this time, and I found several suggestions to add it, such as this one:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-14771

As a work-around you could try the pie-chart gadget for a dashboard by assignee.

Kind regards,
Bill
