Structure+GroupBySprint+OnlyfutureSprints+ AllowToReorder(rank)+ReflectOrderInScrumBoard

Ram June 21, 2020

Below is my requirement:

  1. Create a structure  with stories from Scrum Board
  2. Group by Sprint
  3. List Only future Sprint Groups  (hide closed sprint)  ==>  this doesn't work in Automation, but works thru transformation
  4. List ONLY stories, defects, spikes (don't list EPIC's OR Test or tasks) in Sprint
  5. MOST importantly re-arrange order within Structure (by Rank), which should reflect on Board as well (not manual adjustment) - This is where I am having challenge and need your help

I tried both "empty structure" and "Agile structure" also tried both "automation" and "transformation".  I was able to achieve  1-4, but not 5th requirement. When I tried to move stories, I am getting "Cannot move issues inside the board. You can enable manual adjustments in the structure configuration. You were moving........"

Is this possible in Jira ?  If so, I highly appreciate if you could provide step  by step instructions.

Hi @Ram

You can use generator or transformation for sorting by Rank, this will allow moving issues up or down (within its branch and its level only) and changes in Rank will reflect in Agile board. Note that you may want to have a flat list of issues if you want to Rank them all together, otherwise it will only be within a branch and level as I mentioned.

Thank you Egor for quick response.  I added sorting using rank and still same error message when I tried to move issues ""Cannot move issues inside the board. You can enable manual adjustments in the structure configuration. You were moving........".

Any further suggestions ?

Hi @Ram

I will need to see the composition of board and where the sorter has been installed, maybe it is just put somewhere where it does not affect the issues in question. Also, are you sure you are not moving issues between branches?

Egor

Thank you Egor and your magic worked :-)

I just re-created the structure with my requirements and just added "Rank" as you suggested and magically it started working and error message disappeared.

Thanks once again and  you are the best!!!
