I am working on a Kanban board.  Our team is working on several epics at the same time.  I have created swimlanes for each epic.  All the stories are displayed in their epic swimlane.  However, the subtasks, which are part of the stories, do not.  All the tasks sit at the bottom in the Everything Else' swimlane.  Should the sub-tasks not follow the epic of it's parent story?  Thanks.

Hi @M___  can you please try the below steps -

1 - Go to your board settings.

2 - Go to Swimlane.

3 - Create the master swimlane (where you don't want to see the subtasks).

2 - Below each master swimlane, create the swimlane details (where you want to see only the subtasks).

Master swimlane example: project = INV and issuetype in (Epic, bug, Story) ORDER BY priority DESC

Swimlane example detail: project = INV and issuetype in (subtask) ORDER BY priority DESC

If it works for you, please accept it as an answer or let me know in case of any query. Happy to help you on this.

Best,
Narendra

Hi @M___  and welcome to the community!

Based on my understanding you'd like to group sub-tasks with their respective tasks and stories on a Kanban board, however, you have configured the swimlanes based on Epics.

You can achieve that by configuring the board to display sub-tasks in the Card Layout section.

See example:

I hope it helps. If this answer helps solve the problem, please come back and mark this answer as solved to help other community members with the same challenge. If not, you are welcome to share your solution as well.

Hi Alex,

I tried what you suggested.  It did list the subtasks in the parent story's card but the sub-tasks remained in the 'Everything Else' section.  What I would like is for the sub-task to move into the parent's swimlane.  This would allow me to see everything that is connected to that particular epic in one swimlane.

Thanks,

M
