Hello all,
Until now our Jira instances were configured centrally, now I have to take care of it myself. I apologise in advance for my lack of knowledge.
My problem is:
I have some tasks with subtasks. But on the Kanban Board I cannot move the subtasks from the lane "To Do" to the lane "In Work".
Even changing the status to "In progress" directly in the subtask does not result in the subtask being displayed in the "In progress" lane.
I have not changed the workflows. I can move the complete task including the subtasks, but that is not what I want. What am I missing?
(I use Jira Software Cloud)

Hello @Ingo Syllwasschy
Welcome to the community.
Are you working with a Team Managed project or a Company Managed project? That information will display at the bottom of the panel on the left when you are viewing the board.
Are you working with a Software project or a Work Management project? If you see navigation options like Board, Issues, and Project Settings in the panel on the left then you are working with a Software project. If you see options like Summary, Board, and List across the top of the screen then you are working with a Work management project.
Have you previously been able to move subtasks?
Hello Trudy
Thanks for the welcome.
It is a team managed work management project. I am also the administrator for this one.
I have so far set the subtasks in the list view to the status "in progress". After that, they were visible in the "in progress" lane. I have not yet tried moving them directly in the board view.

Can you provide a screen image of your board showing subtasks?
My experience with Work Management boards is as follows:
1. The Board view shows the cards for the main issue types such as Story, Task, and Bug.
2. If an issue has subtask you see an indicator on the main issue that shows how many subtasks there are and how many of the are done - for example "0 / 5"
3. There is an expand/collapse button on the card. When you click the expand button then all the subtasks of the main issue are displayed directly under the main issue regardless of the actual status of the subtask.
4. Subtask always display in the same column as their parent issue regardless of the subtask status, which means they display in the column that matches the parent issue status.
5. On the board you can't move the subtask cards. You can move only the main issue cards .

Hello Trudy,
I guess I got confused with the previous centrally managed board. But now I know that it was not a work management board but a software board. So the programme behaviour seems to be different?
Thanks for the help.

Yes, the behavior of the boards for different types of projects (Software vs. Work Management, Company Managed vs. Team Managed) is a bit different.
