I have just installed the Jira software and had started running on my browser
http://localhost:8080/secure/errors.jsp
I am getting the following message on starting the Jira server.
We couldn't start the following plugins:
Just had the same. Removing of .bundled-plugins .osgi-plugins did not help and it did not start till I had not removed JIRA_HOME/plugins/install-app-info and JIRA_HOME/plugins/installed-plugins.
After that I had to reinstall all 3rd party apps.
Thanks for the hint! This really helped.
One addition: I did not reinstall the apps, I just copied the missing 3rd party app jars back to the JIRA_HOME/plugins/installed-plugins.
Looks like the Jira database has all the configurations for those plugins, so you do not have to reconfigure anything.

Additional details: looks like the issue appears for me when updating Atlassian Universal Plugin Manager Plugin to 5.1.2, which I decided to ignore.

this is a recurring issue for us as well. as we have regular automatic restarts of the servers for patches/maintenance, we need to rely that the Jira service will also restart.
It is not viable for a production system to always have a team on deck deleting folders on the filesystem just for the application to start.

Edwin's suggestion works for my setup*. I would have tried Volodymyr's suggestion, but I did not have to.
