Take value of one custom field in Issue 1 and place it to the identical custom field in Issue 2

Alex Shirokov January 22, 2022

Hi Everyone,

I have this scenario:

I create an Epic 1 with four custom fields. I fill them up.

Can the values of those custom fields be automatically replicated if I create an Epic 2

Epic 1.                                                                Epic 2

Custom Field "Sponsor": John Johnson --> Custom Field "Sponsor": John Jonson

Hi Alex,

I would use a Component to designate which Epic is the top level Epic.

Then create an automation rule for Issue Created with a Condition for Issue Type = Epic

You will need to create a Branch to identify the top level Epic (using the issue type and component combination)

Hi @Alex Shirokov

Yeah Cloning would be a good option

If you go with Automation, what is the link with Epic 1 when you create Epic 2.

If you have input here, let me know

Thanks,
Pramodh

HI @Pramodh M ,

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I'm relatively new to Atlassian products, can you suggest how to clon via automation? I tried but failed.

Thank you!

@Pramodh M I forgot to add - I need to CLONE only the custom field but not the entire issue.

Thank you!
