Tempo planner - is there any way of creating non-issue tasks?

Hello,

I have added my issues from JIRA into Tempo Planner but the one thing I am missing is the ability to add a task into the planner where the task has no actual JIRA issue. This would be really useful as not everything a team member does will have an issue in JIRA.

Does anyone know if this is possible in Tempo planner?

Thanks

Typically I see teams create an internal project and then plan/allocate time against the meeting/training/non Jira work there. You can of course rename the task on the plan, so you'd only need a few issues in this project.

See https://tempoplugin.jira.com/wiki/spaces/TEMPO/pages/172785882/Configuring+internal+issues+and+activities (Aware the link is for Timesheets, but you can use the same concept in Planner).

Hi Jimmy,

Firstly, thank-you so much for responding.

I confess I am still a little confused. When I add an issue to the planner, I see the issue ID and then the 'Issue Summary' underneath.

From what I can see I cannot amend the Issue Summary field. There is no edit option for 'Issue Summary' when you click on issue on planner.

Thanks again,

Paul

Hi Paul, are you able to send through a screenshot?

I'd just like to check:

  • Cloud or Server
  • Version
  • Team planner/resource planner

This is what I typically do:

Hi,

Below is a screenshot. You can see the 'Issue Summary' at the bottom right. This is what is showing in the actual planner. This is a field that is not editable.

JIRA SERVER (v7.12.3)

This is just the Tempo Planner -> Planning -> Timeline view.

Thanks

Ah you've upgraded your Tempo Planner. Let me upgrade and tell you what the difference is with the new version. I know they made a few changes.

Many thanks.

I have to admit that, as of today, the Activity Timeline solution is winning in the race for our company to adopt a planning/resourcing solution. The thing is, I like Tempo and would love, eventually, to utilise the entire Tempo suite. It's just that the Planner is just a little clunky to use at present:

No ical export (I can export an ical link from Activity Timeline, share the calendar with a client and then have them see changes I make to the planner in real time WITHIN Outlook). A really nice feature.

Tempo Planner also has a strange quirk in the Timeline view where you end up with a task that runs off the side of the calendar. That means you can't see the task. When you then click the arrow to move the calendar on, it moves on so much that it makes the task dissapear at the other side of the calendar! Very unfortunate.

Still, Planner has a nice interface overall and, of course, is embedded directly within Jira which helps.

Anyway, just a bit of feedback in case it helps.

Many thanks
