Hello @Subha NS

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Jira does not provide specific functionality for test cases.

You can create a custom issue type and call it "Test case".

Or you can look in the Atlassian Marketplace  for third party apps that add custom functionality for tracking test cases and test cycles.

Thanks for the info @Trudy Claspill

@Subha NS If you're looking to go down the apop route, I would recommend either Zephyr Scale or X-Ray.

These can both be really powerful tools if you use them properly, so would definitely check them out!

In my opinion, Zephyr Squad I would say is easier to set up, but X-Ray has better reporting capabilities

Hi @Subha NS ,

I am Ewa and I represent SolDevelo. Here is how we approached this functions in our app QAlity Plus - Test Management for Jira

With QAlity Plus, you can create Test Cases, which are Jira issues with a special QAlity Test issue type. These Test Cases can be linked to your requirements, such as Stories or Epics, and displayed directly underneath them for easy reference. Testers can update the Test Cases by editing the fields, and you can view the complete history of each Test Case’s execution.

To perform tests, simply click the Execute button. Our Test Execution page provides a variety of features to record the results:

  • Add a comment related to the overall Test Execution.
  • Add a comment, attachment, and status for each executed Test Step.
  • Report and link a bug directly within the execution page. Reproduction steps will be automatically added to the bug description.
  • Gain insights into all previously failed tests for a specific Test Case, which is especially helpful if you're checking for recurring issues.

Moreover, during your execution, you can gain insights on all previously failed tests of this specific Test Cases. It is especially useful, when you need to check if a simmilar bug has happened before. You can watch all this features in our onboarding video here.

These are just a few of the features QAlity Plus offers to enhance your testing process. Additionally, with our tool, you can organize your Test Cases into folders, analyze results with detailed reports, and easily import new Test Cases.

If you're interested in a comprehensive overview, I would love to meet on a demo with you. Feel free to check out our available slots here.

Best regards,
Ewa
