I recently noticed that the option to create a new item from the column furthest to the left has disappeared from the bottom of that column. I still have the create button at the very top of Jira & I still have the create option at the bottom of my list view.
In addition, I'm unable to drag and drop cards within a column in order to rank them how I'd like while in the board view.
When I first created the board, both of these functions were working but have suddenly stopped. I am the project admin so should have the ability to do both of these things.
Thanks for any advice on how I can fix this!
Hello! Same issue(( the option to create a new item from the column just disappeared, clearing cache wasn't helpful
Hello @Юлия Толстикова
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
I am not experiencing this problem.
Please provide answers to all the same questions I asked the original Question author, as well as...
1. Does this happen for all users or just you?
2. Have you tried using a different browser application or a private browser window to access Jira, and does it still happen there?

Given that the original post is almost a year old and has no acknowledged solution I recommend that you each start your own brand new Question to get maximum visibility and help from the community. The only people who have seen you additions to this question are the original Question author, people who have responded, and anybody who opted to Watch the post. Creating a new Question will put your post closer to the top of the of the Questions list in this forum.
Provide full information about your situations:
1. With what type of project are you working?
2. Does it happen to all users?
3. Does it happen in all projects?
4. Does it happen if you use a different browser application, or a private browser window, or clear you browser history/cache?
5. Can you create issues in the same project using another method?
6. Provide screen images of what you see.

Hello @Denise Pickering
Can you confirm the type of project with which you are working?
Is it Software, Work Management, or Service Management?
Is it Team Managed or Company Managed?

It is Jira Work Management. When I first created the board I had the ability to move cards within the column and there was a create button at the bottom left corner of the board. Both of those suddenly went away!
I'm not sure where to look to see if the project is team or company managed.

The Team vs. Company information is displayed in 2 places:
- at the bottom of the expand/collapse panel on the left when viewing the project.
- in the Type column on the "View all projects" page (under the Projects menu)
I see the Create button at the bottom of the left most column and am able to reorder cards in both Team and Company managed Work Management projects.
Do you happen to have multiple workflows for the issues in your project?
Can you provide a screen image, and also point out one of the cards you are trying to move?

Thanks for the tip! It's a team managed project.
I only have 1 workflow set at this time:

Can you provide a screen image of your board showing that the Create option is missing, and also point out one of the cards you are trying to move but can't?

Trudy, here is a screen shot from the bottom of my board. I only included the first 3 columns since I didn't want to post company data. I am trying to grab a card like the one you see in "this is a test" and move it up within the same "new item" column to help show it's higher priority. I used to be able to do this in the board view and no longer can. Thanks!

I have not been able to recreate your issue in my own Free environment.
Are you using a Free plan or a paid plan? If you are on a paid plan I suggest you have your Jira Admins reach out directly to Atlassian Support by opening a support case.

And it would be great if you could report back here what you learn.

I was talking to a coworker and he suggested I open the board in Safari instead of Chrome. That did the trick and my create button is back! I'm also able to move my cards within a column again.

Hm, well that is odd since I am using Chrome.
Have you tried opening the board in a Chrome Igcognito window? Or clearing the browser cache in Chrome and then opening the board?

I did NOT try that! I just did and it seems to have fixed it now! I can't believe I didn't think to try that first! I'm all set! thanks for your support!

@Trudy Claspill - I came back from vacation this week and I'm experiencing the same thing as @Юлия Толстикова.
The "+ Create Issue" button is now missing from all columns of the kanban board (Team-managed project). I'm pretty much the only one using Jira directly so I can safely say nothing has changed in the settings or configuration.
I'm using MS Edge, but I did try it in Chrome, as well as in private mode and the behavior is the same in all three. The button is simply no longer there. I used it religiously so I could add tasks directly to the respective columns without having to go to the backlog and manually move the new issue to the board. This is a HUGE hindrance!

Hello @cox.tw
Are you on a free subscription or paid subscription?
What is the Type of the project? You can get that info from the Type column on the View All Projects page?
Can you confirm that the Status field still appears in the Create Issue dialog?
I would also recommend that you recheck all the usual options that affect the ability to use the feature, such as workflow conditions/validators, transitions, and the global setting for allowing the setting of Status during creation.
In this other thread Bill Sheboy pointed out an issue in Atlassian's backlog that may be informative to your situation, providing information about some additional factors that can affect the display of that option.

It's a Team-Managed project. I believe we are under a paid subscription.
Yes- the status field is still on the create issue window, with all of the statuses the same as they have been set up.
I haven't made any changes to the flows/transitions since when the "Create Issue" button was last seen at the bottom of each column on the board. That's what so odd about it.
The other thread didn't reveal any new insights for me. Through my own research it seems like many others have had unexplained problems with this as well. Where do I go from here?

The last thing I can note is that in my environment I see the +Create Issue option statically only at the bottom of the left most column on the Kanban board of my Team Managed Software project. I have to hover in the other columns for the +Create issue option to appear in them.
Given that the original post is over a year old I recommend that you create a brand new Question post of your own to maximize the visibility of your question within the Community.
You can include a link to this post to provide more context.
You should provide all the information about your environment, your project type, your board type, and screen images of what you see, as well as all the things you have already checked in your debugging efforts.
Alternately, your Jira Administrators can open a support case directly with Atlassian, if you are on a paid subscription.
