The overly large right hand panel - can I hide or resize this?

This has been bugging me for a while, so I thought I'd ask the question - the overly large right hand panel when I'm viewing an issue (showing the fields)  - can I hide, collapse or resize this?

There have been many posts of that same question in this community. The short answer is that the panel cannot be resized or hidden.

There is an issue in Atlassian's backlog. I recommend you add your vote to it.
