Ticket Status on Next Gen not in sync with board

Sean Stromberg June 19, 2020

If I view a ticket in my next get backlog and change the status to "To Do" or "In Progress" the ticket remains in the backlog, it does not show up on my board in either the "To Do" or "In Progress" columns.

Why isn't Status synced with Column?

And, how can I sync Status with Column on a next-gen project?

Hi @Sean Stromberg

This is the current functionality - issues aren't moved automatically onto the board based on status (like in Classic projects).

There are a few things that Atlassian have added:

  • Issues in Done cannot be in the Backlog - if you move an issue to "Done" and refresh the board it will disappear. It doesn't show up in the last column though, it moves straight to hidden like those resolved >14 days ago do.
  • You can create an issue directly in a board column if required.
  • You can use Project Automation (Project Settings > Apps) to add an issue to a sprint based on a status transition.

But I appreciate the last option above is only if you're using Scrum. If you're using Kanban, there's not an automated option right now.

There are suggestions for this - I would vote / follow ideas such as JSWCLOUD-17471

Thank you for clarifying and for providing a link to vote on changing this behavior.
