Tickets that are in To Do and Open statuses are included into 'In Progress' statistics (SP).

I noticed a strange count for the sprint statistics in Jira.
For some reason, items that are in To Do and Open statuses are included into 'In Progress' statistics.
So basically If I count the story points myself, I should have: 

10 SP - TO DO
35 SP - IN PROGRESS
33.5 SP - DONE

78.5 TOTAL

In my backlog however the current sprint shows that I have 
3.5 SP - To do
45.5 - In Progress
29.5 - Done

78.5 Total
Did you face such case?

How are you identifying

in the backlog?

It doesn't usually show the workflow status.

Top right of the current sprint backlog. 

Even now we have 5 tickets in TO DO status category (gray) with 4.5 Story points in total, but as you can see the screenshot it says we have only 1 in To Do. 

I have checked all status if they are properly mapped to a status category and they are all the way the should be.

Hi

each workflow status has a category set as a colour when creating the status. This isn’t the same as the column information.

so you may have only one issue/status in the TO DO category. But multiple statuses in the ‘to do’ column.

refresh both the board and report before checking to ensure they are in sync.

consider a reindex to ensure the indexes are definitely in sync

Did you check the board configuration like columns are mapped to their respective status ?

Just a thought, but what is the category of the In Progress status you are using? Is it To Do or In Progress?

Hey John, 

All Statues are corresponding with their status category. 
Status In Progress is in Status Category In Progress  (Blue Colour)

Capture.JPGThat's the story point distribution by status. Keep in mind that tickets changed since last week. Now it seem accurate but I cant figure out why there was an issues with it before. And it didn't happen for first time.

You may have seeing data reported from the indexes which was not in sync with the actual issue data.

boards don’t refresh automatically to reflect data changes.
