Hi All, There is a gadget "Time to First Response" in JIRA Dashboard. It calculates Time to first response by calculating the time difference between the issue creation date and the "Date of First Response" to determine the time to respond for each issue. The "Date of First Response" is based on first comment by user other than Reporter.
Do we have any idea how does this calculation actually happens?
Is Sat/Sun included OR only weekdays are included?
For each day how many hours are counted like 8 hrs or more?
Does It average out the "Time to First Response" for multiple tickets or does It add all the hours?
Would you be great If you can explain with an example. Thanks :)
Hey Akash,
This gadget shows the average time of the first response of all tickets in a day. You can configure the number of days to be displayed.
The first response time is considered as the difference between the issue creation time and the time of the first comment added by someone other than the reporter (as you have rightly pointed).
It considers all days, and 24 hours a day. So if you respond on an issue exactly one month after creation, it should be 720 hours.
Example: I have an issue that was created on 17th Dec 2024, and I have responded today: 28th Feb 2025. So the First response time is shown as 1745 hours (~73 days).
Thanks,
Karan
Hi Karan, Thanks for the response.
"It considers all days, and 24 hours a day" - Is it possible to change this configuration to let's say from 24hr/day to 8 hrs/day and only considering weekdays. Please let me know. Thanks

Hey Akash,
Unfortunately, we don't have a way to modify this configuration in the gadgets.
There was a feature request that was closed as it didn't get enough traction.
Thanks,
Karan
