Timetracking summary on active sprint, shows/calcualtes "to do's" as in progress

Maja Aagaard September 12, 2018

Hi

We have just started our sprint, and I am surprised to notice that the timetracking shows 189 our of 194 hrs as in progress, as that is not the case.

The stories, except for 4, are all in the to-do stage and "grey" - meaning not in progress.
I double checked the workflow as well, and all looks ok.

Hi @Maja Aagaard. Can you verify the status category of To Do by selecting in the WF editor and select edit. Screendshot? Make sure it is To Do and publish.

Hi Jack,

Yes the status is To Do

Thanks for checking. Let me do a bit of testing in my instance to observe the behavior just to get another baseline. I will get to this later today and get back to you.

@Maja Aagaard, so here are the results of my test.

Summary: I do not see the anomaly that you are where "To Do" issues are being counted in the In Progress lozenge on the backlog. I haven't looked at these in some time to be honest and one thing that I learned was that the time shown in the lozenges is alway the Original Estimate. I was sort of expecting that it would be the Remaining Time but after I thought about it that would not make sense. What is being shown is meant to represent the total estimated effort in the various categories.

Here is what i captured FWIW...

So, here is what I would suggest as a next troubleshooting step - let's export to excel and view results. I just want to ensure that we are looking at this correctly.

  1. go to Search Issues screen and enter the JQL for your sprint (sprint = xxxx).
  2. for the columns include Status and Original Estimate
  3. export
  4. tally the OE by status

note: the estimate is going to be in seconds so you will need to convert. Of course you can manually look at this as well and in actuality given the numbers you have shown it should be pretty clear by staring at it.

Can you share a snapshot of the active sprint screen??

Thanks

Here's the screenshots, it wont's accept the excel for some reason.

The lines I have marked with yellow, has the status "in progress", the rest to do (if not completed)

Ps. I will be offline next week, so any feedback after the next 6 hrs will be looked at when I return :)2018-09-14_07-45-39.png2018-09-14_07-44-19.png
