Tool for Sprint Planning?

Hello all,

Does Jira have any tools to help with Sprint Planning so I can plan ahead and see what task will fit in the next sprint and what each team member's proposed workload utilization would be?

For example, if John has 14 tasks, Jane has 12, Will has 10, etc, I want to see what could fit in the next sprint based on original time estimates, etc without starting the sprint. I just want to do planning to see what is possible, etc?

Hello Baylor,
We have exactly that. Together with my friends we prepared simple tool in Jira to allow sprint planning directly with sprint backlog items - have a look, You can purchase our plugin from Atlassian MP: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1226240/visual-sprint-planner?tab=overview&hosting=cloud

Configuration is few seconds long and You should be ready to go.

This is out of the box solution :)

Hello @Baylor Peak

What type of Jira Cloud subscription do you have - Free, Standard, or Premium?

If you have Premium, there are capacity planning features in the Advanced Roadmaps feature.

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/monitor-capacity-on-your-advanced-roadmaps-timeline/

Otherwise you may need to look at third party apps available in the marketplace.

Then I would recommend you explore the Advanced Roadmaps features.

We have only a Standard subscription and don't use Roadmaps, so I don't have actual experience with the feature. I don't know if it provides all that you need.

Yeah..not exactly :(

Sounds like, what I am wanting is not something available out of the box
