We are interested in using the Tracking and Estimation for Jira add-on to allow us track estimates and actuals by role (Design, Development, QA) for a given story. However, we also have a requirement where we must be able to provide reports for billing purposes using Tempo Accounts. This means that a single story will have multiple roles assigned to it and will have multiple worklogs with different Tempo Accounts.
Unfortunately, the Tracking and Estimation for Jira and Tempo Accounts do not integrate at all. The general Tempo worklog form does not have the "Type of Work" option that the Jira worklog form offers and vice versa.
It has been stated that the two features will only work together if each individual is assigned to one role at a time as the system will then be able to default the type of work and deduct from the original estimate to get the new remaining estimate for the specific role. This is not realistic as we have individuals wearing multiple hats in a sprint worth of time.
Does anyone else use Tempo Accounts and the Tracking and Estimation for Jira add-on and if so, how do you get the two to work together nicely? If there are other options out there, I am open to suggestions!
Given that you cannot change the Tempo Accounts since your customers love them as they are, the last idea I have is to get hands on the "Type of Work". You can add your own custom field to the Tempo Work Logs, though it probably/maybe won't integrate with Tracking and Estimation (I'm not sure on this one).
I've attached you some screenshots on how this would be setup.
Hey @[deleted],
Exply for JIRA is probably a good solution for your topic to combine different Tempo Accounts with multiple worklogs, as it is especially designed to bring JIRA and Tempo data together.
If you need help, feel free to contact me.

Hello Fabian,
It looks like this tool is for extracting the results. However, we having an issue at the work log entry stage. We require time logged against an Account and a specific role. The two different add-ons have two different entry forms and do not merge very nicely. Do you have a recommendation for a tool for time entry when you need both Accounts and Estimations by Role? We are not limited to Tempo.
I do have a question though on Exply. Do you know if custom work attributes are extracted with this tool? We have tried using the Tableau connector, but it is not extracting the custom work attributes.
Thanks!

Does the Tracking and Estimation for Jira add-on use custom fields? Unfortunately I don't know how this plugin works.
We know that it's possible to use different Tempo Accounts for different cost centers. So you could also use Tempo Accounts to map your roles. Am I understanding you correctly?
Are those custom work attributes custom fields for issues? if yes, then they are extracted and can be used to filter, search and group data. Additionally you can configure where those custom fields should appear.

Yes it does. It creates custom fields unique to the add-on. Our Tempo Accounts are very unique and were set by the customer. They do not align with a role 100% of the time. The custom work attributes are on the Tempo "log work" form specifically. They were added via the Tempo Administration page directly.
