I tried to use automation in cloud to automatically update the status of my subtask. the work flow is open, open load, dispatched load, closed load.
when the subtask is first made it is open, then when the load number field is entered the subtask should be transitioned to open load.
what I tried to do is use the when a issue field changes to transition to open load status. It doesn't work and the reason is because I think its not considered in jira's eyes that its changing since its empty prior to adding the load number field.
any ideas on how to change this? or what im doing wrong>?
I apologize, I read that incorrectly, I thought you were creating a subtask from the load number changing.
Is the load number only entered during the "OPEN" transition?
Its created when the parent issue is made with script runner. Then its is in OPEN status, when another field is entered it should be transitioned to OPEN LOAD although it wont work with the triggers that would seem to work the best, i.e field changed or issue commented, but it does work when its a schedule automation. the other odd thing is it works fine unless I enter the fields through a bulk import. issue is that most of my fields are changing by bulk import.

You may want to use a branch rule.
Then you can modify the sub-task

I added that but its the same story, it must be since the issue is empty prior to filling the fields its set on? is there a way to do edited instead of changed?
