Windows Server: 2016
SQL Server: MSSQL
Jira Server version: 7.12.3
Build Number: 712004
Application Server Container: Apache Tomcat/8.5.32
When following this guide,https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/running-jira-applications-over-ssl-or-https-938847764.html, I get and eror when Jira is starting up.
"Setup: Tomcat is misconfigured
The server.xml is missing parameters needed by Jira to handle requests that contain special characters"
Following the link to, https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/changing-server-xml-to-handle-requests-with-special-characters-958453799.html, doesn't solve the issue
We have reverted back to HTTP only but he issue persisted.
We restored a backup file form yesterday and the server is running again
It seems like the config.bat, used to configure the server, is messing up the server.xml file
How can I make my server run on HTTPS?
Hey Reza,
There can be multiple connectors in server.xml - any active connectors need the special character flags or you'll see this situation.
Take a look at this recent post where we went over using syntax highlighting in a text editor to find active connectors.
It could easily be there's just another active connector at the bottom of the file that escaped your glance.
Once you're able to check all those connectors, let me know if you still continue to see the error!
Cheers,
Daniel
god damn it me too! got the first one and missed the second!
all would be solved by atlassian supporting the very real and popular SSL configuration OUT OF THE BOX!!!!

I'm also impacted by this and it's incredibly frustrating. The server config utility should either handle this natively or warn the user that the configuration file it generates will be broken.
