Hi,
I have a project where I have 6-7 boards and I am not able to add statuses to a particular board on this project which is a scrum board. I see the following in the Configure board for columns :
Simplified WorkflowSoftware Simplified Workflow unavailable
This board is unable to use a Software Simplified Workflow
I can add the columns and but cannot Add status as the button to add status is missing completely.
The project is using Scrum default workflow.
Let me know what am I missing here.
Thanks
To add a status to the workflow from a board, the workflow must be "simplified". This is a flag that only an administrator can set.
When an administrator gets the "Software Simplified Workflow unavailable" message, it means that they can not set that flag because there is something in the current boards configuration that prevents it. Having more than one workflow in the projects on the board for example. If you click the ? next to the message, it will give you the list of reasons it might not be able to do it.
Hi Nic,
This project is using only one workflow that is "SCRUM Std Project Workflow Scheme" which further have three more subs as Default, Bug and Story Feature Imp. I am not sure if that is supposed to be considered multiple workflows in a project.
As far as the filter for the board is concerned, it is pulling issues only from this project where this board belongs.
And the question mark next to the message opens up an Atlassian page where it explains about Using the Simplified Workflow.. Hope this would give you insight of my situation..
I am not sure but I think in order to use this feature of Software simplified I need to change the workflow of current projects from whatever they are using to Simplified and then only Project and board administrators will have the ability to add or remove statuses to their board, which is quiet not right because if I get this request from 50 board admins then I shouldn't have to do this for 50 projects... unless I am getting it wrong...
Thanks

Sorry for the delay, I didn't see the response.
The workflow scheme maps one or more workflows to the issue types in your project. Often, there is only one in there, so all issue types use the same workflow. Can you check the mapping in there? It should say just say something like "All issues use workflow X". If it says something like "Bugs: Workflow Y, everything else uses workflow Z", that explains why you can't simplify. It needs to be a single workflow
Also, the workflow should be one that is not used by other projects with other workflows.
