Unable to assign a workflow to project nor publish that new workflow

Parag Ahire November 9, 2021

We created a new workflow. Our project is sharing a workflow with four other projects.

The option to publish the workflow is greyed out. Nor can I publish the workflow since four other projects are sharing that workflow. At this time, even the create a new workflow button is greyed out.

How can we assign the new workflow to our JIRA project ?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi @Parag Ahire and welcome to the Community!

If you try to locate the new workflow you created in Jira settings / workflows, is it under active or inactive workflows?

If it is under inactive workflows, that means it is not associated with a workflow scheme yet. And linking the workflow to the workflow scheme that is used in your project is the required step to enable the new workflow for that project.

Have a look at these 2 articles for more information on managing workflows and workflow schemes:

Hope this helps!

Great to hear that, @Parag Ahire. If so, would you be so kind to mark the answer accepted? That makes it easier to find for users with similar questions.

Thx and glad you were able to get things working!
