I am looking to create a JQL filter that uses the "Parent Link" field. When I am trying to select the "Parent Link" field it is greyed out with a error icon next to it stating "Parent Link is not applicable for the current project and/or issue type."
Does anyone know what causes this? We are using the parent link for the issues and projects I am trying to pull into this filter so not sure why the not applicable message is coming up.
UPDATE: Was able to create a filter using the "Parent Link" field by going to the advanced JQL query and typing out the filter criteria. (see screenshot below)
Hi @David Proux
Try actually using the advanced jql (switch to jql link). Sometimes basic jql have restrictions.
I would also double check that the issue type you are using has a parent.
Thanks
Thank you @Fabian Lim I was trying that after posting this question and the advanced JQL query looks to be capturing it now. Thank you!

Hi @David Proux ,
Thanks for posting.
Could you please check this already reported issue - https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-40738 and vote and share for this one and try to apply the workaround using Advanced Search?
Please let me know your thoughts and feedback on this.
Cheers

@David Proux , would you mind sharing more details on your query. I suspect, but do not know for sure, that maybe you are trying to use parent link with a TMP project. If I am not mistaken, Parent link is for CMP projects only. If you are using TMP try using parent instead of parent link.

Thank you @Jack Brickey confirmed I was using CMP projects. Was able to get this to work by using the advanced JQL query. For some reason the basic filtering via the dropdowns wasn't able to do it.
