Unable to search Jira and find the request

Issue

Unable to search jira and find the request from summary text/numbers 

example search by 244661

looking for APN-00244661 in the summary field 

even as Admin you can't find it in global or project searches 

using any combo of search fails to find the request 

the only way it finds it is to use the full text > APN-00244661

would creating a custom field called APN find it ?

and if so what automation can fetch the apn from the summary and dump it to the apn field ?

Have you tried any of the following for your search?

Using summary ~ "APN-00244661" or summary ~ "*244661"

if you search any combination beside the full text it finds nothing 

this is the only string that finds the request APN-00244661
