Unable to see issues marked with fix version under release page

Tom George Menachery February 20, 2025

Hi,

I have created the field fix versions and added that to every issue type under a project. After the creating the fix version in release page, I started adding fix versions to issues. I ma unable to see any issues marked with fix version under the release page at all. Have checked the admin settings seems to be fine

Hello @Tom George Menachery

The Releases leverage the system-provided Fix Version field that pre-exists. You need to use that field, not a custom field named Fix Version that you created yourself.

Thanks Trudy. Realised that after scouring through Jira settings that there are two fix versions existing right now, so got rid of the custom one.

Since we are on the topic of release, just want to know whether there is a possibility for below two things to happen on release page.

a) Customize the page to filter issues based on sprints, currently we can select here the assignee in the option,

b) Also can you tell me the use of approvers section in the release page. Is it allowing people to be approvers for adding items in the fix version

Hi @Tom George Menachery,

just to add to Trudy's great answer:

If you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you should be able to fulfil all your requirements using the app that my team and I are working on: JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.

With these, you can build a view like e.g. this in just a couple of clicks:

Here, you can,

  • utilise any fix version fields that you may want to use, not just the system field,
  • add any issue fields that you might be interested in,
  • filter by any issue field(s), including the sprint.

This is really just one of a virtually endless number of possible views and reports; you can also view and group by any other issue fields, configure different sum-up styles, etc. etc.

Any questions just let me know!

Best,

Hannes
