Upgrading Jira Server - Concerns about plug-ins

Hello,

I'm planning the upgrade process for my organization's Jira Software instance (v7.9 to v8.8) and I had a concern about plug-ins.

In our dev instance, the trial version of Xray Test Management is installed. We've also created a test project which we would like to copy over to production as it includes test configurations we'd like to keep documented. In our production instance, however we do not have Xray installed. Additionally, we are in the middle of buying the licensed version of Xray so not sure if we should be installing it in production first before copying over the project from dev.

Besides my logic, if it makes sense, are there other paths I can take to accomplish this? What are the pros and cons of other options? Help with this would be greatly appreciated as we are trying to upgrade very soon.

With regards,

Rehnuma

I would be surprised if you can copy Xray info from dev into production without a valid Xray license in prod. Have you checked with the vendor, perhaps ask for an evaluation license. Once you purchase a license I would expect the vendor to want to help even more

Thanks for your feedback, Matt. I will relay further questions to the vendor.

One more question, what is the recommended method of backing up a project (including configurations)?

Botron or Adaptavist both have plugins that can help
