Hi guys!
We are planning to upgrade our Jira environment to new version. Our Jira environment has 2000 users , and It's important to keep Jira application "alive" during upgrade. Does there are any solutions how to upgrade Jira with zero-downtime to Jira 8 (except something like green-blue deployment). I've tried upgrade Jira node-by-node (by removing from our balancer) , but receive an error that Jira applications in cluster has different versions. Thank you
There is no way to do a "no downtime" upgrade on a major version, DC's "no downtime upgrade" only supports minor release changes.
You will need to plan to take the whole lot offline to upgrade.
Hey Nic,
Do you think it's possible to upgrade node-by-node always keeping nodes alive until the last node. An example with 3 nodes would
Once the 3rd and final node is upgrade, start JIRA on each node 1 by 1.
Also any thoughts on going from 7.12.3 to 8.0 vs 7.12.3 to 8.5 (enterprise release). With no downtime available once we get to 8 version is it safer to do small jump from 7.12 to closest 8.x version or does it not matter and we should just jump to 8.5
