Is it possible to use jira expression on validator with JIRA free plan?
I can't find this option on create validator
Hi @Roman ,
Out of the box, there is no option to use Jira Expressions in validators – this has nothing to do with being on the free plan.
What you'll need is an app that brings custom validators. I'll unashamedly recommend our own app Cloud Workflows, but to be honest, there are quite a few out there, so pick one that you like.
Considering that you're on the free plan, I would recommend to filter for apps that are free for small teams.
Whichever app you pick: Enjoy, Jira Expressions are a fantastic tool for workflow conditions and validators.
Hope that helps,

Hi @Roman
Jira's Free plan has limitations when it comes to workflow validation, only supporting basic built-in validators and not allowing custom Jira expressions.
In contrast, the Standard plan and above, including Premium and Enterprise, offer more advanced workflow customization options, including the use of custom workflow validators with Jira expressions.
While the Free plan still permits some basic workflow customization, upgrading to at least the Standard plan is necessary to access more advanced features like custom validators.

Hi @Humashankar VJ , I was unaware of any limitations with Free where workflow validators are concerned. Can you share details on this?

I pointed it about the basic workflow customization, it does not support advanced features like workflow validators using Jira expressions.
Validators in the Free plan are restricted to straightforward options, including "Field required" and "User permissions".
