Users and permissions that are affected by connecting our domain

We hav erecently enabled Atlassian Guard and I am going to connect out domain to our Atlassian instance to sync our users and security groups. I am hesitant to complete the sync, however as I am wondering if this action will have any impact on the current users and groups that are already built out in Atlassian and assigned to various permission schemes or if the existing groups and users will remain intact.

If anyone has any experience with this any advice would be much appriciated!

Before starting, you need to complete the domain claiming process. Always start with a small test before syncing everything. Start with one groups with a few members just to make sure everything is working right with the integration. Not 100% sure but I recall the existing groups are left alone. Again start small and do a full validation before opening up the flood gates.

That's really good advice, I appreciate it.

The big reason I'm hesitating right now is because there are already some groups that have been built out "organically" and I want to make sure those stay in place while I clean them up and reassign group permissions appropriately.
