Our users have quite a lot of post-functions and validators set up on their workflows. We are recently instituted more limited Jira administrator permissions as it's become untenable having a large number of people with admin rights. Jira admins are currently making requested changes to workflows so we can effectively manage those changes. However, users cannot view post-functions and validators and details of the transitions on the read only workflow details in order to troubleshoot and then request any changes. It is only possible to see this if in edit mode (ie having Jira admin rights as they are all shared workflows).
Is it possible to get a view of post-functions etc on the read-only workflows of these, or am I missing something? We really don't want to reinstate such a large number of Jira admins. Is this possible on Cloud or Data Center?
Hi @Danielle Green ,
We just made an app for this!
Glass Project Docuemtation can read through your project settings, show every single workflow post-functions, even you can export your project documentation in seconds! This based on a custom project permission (View Glass Permission), so your users can access everything without admin access!
Let me know if you miss anything ;)
Thank you! Very interesting

Hi Dani,
Not with either product, Cloud/DC, out of the box. This is a limitation of Extended Project Administration and is intentional. You may be able to find something on Marketplace that allows you to grant additional permissions to a select set of users, meeting this ask. Cheers!

Thanks @Joshua Sneed Contegix this is not with granting extra permissions though, just being able to view the details. Is that not possible?
It should be possible for view only, rather than having to go into edit mode each time - do you know of any feature request to Atlassian for this?

Welcome Danielle,
It is not possible to grant the additional permission of viewing advanced workflow configuration without granting additional permission. There is a hard line in Jira between Jira Administrator permissions and Project Administrator (extended) permissions that prevents non-Jira Administrators from seeing those items. Some plugins blur this line by creating some additional permission tiers between the aforementioned user types. Installing the correct plugin and granting the correct permissions will allow non-Jira Administrators to see those items. Cheers!
