Velocity chart - Why are they restricted to last 7 sprints?

We are on cloud.

I am wondering why are these velocity charts restricted to last 7 sprints.

We need some data dating back to last 40 sprints and it seems to be impossible to fetch the data. 

Any help is appreciated.

Hi there, Ravi.

As of now, the functionality is hard coded to show a maximum of the last 7 sprints on the report. I can't say for sure why it is limited to that amount (could potentially be performance overhead? I can't say for sure though). 

Fast forward, there is a public Suggestion for Server raised back to keep track of this:

• JSWSERVER-6034: Velocity Chart should show all Sprints and not be limited to last 7 Sprints

As you can see from the official update by the Jira Server Product Management, it has been prioritized to be in the JIRA roadmap. There has not been any specific updates on JIRA Cloud so far, so I would encourage you to leave a comment on the ticket as this helps us prioritize & understand the use case of the feature request for Cloud as well.

Should you prefer to have this tracked as a separate Cloud issue, please let me know so a new ticket can be raised accordingly.
