Version Picker not able to associate with tickets

Hi there,

I created a new custom field by using Version Picker, because there is a need for me to track the progress of releases in production environment, which is different with Fix Versions which are normally in testing environments. And I am able to select different versions in this custom field. However, I realized that the versions tagged to the custom field are not tracking or showing the issues under it. Only the versions for Affects Version and Fixs Versions are tracking the issues and showing the progress of release. May I check whether this is a limitation of JIRA? Or am I missing any step here? Appreciate your help.

What is Version Tracker? Is that a third party application that you have added to your Jira instance? Can you provide a link to the vendor's documentation?

Thanks for your reply. Sorry there was a typo in my original question. I was referring to Version Picker, which is the one of the options to select when we create a new custom field. Many thanks.temp.JPG

And where are you viewing the "progress of a release"?

When I go to the Releases screen (for a Company Managed project) the Progress info I see there is based only on data in the Fix Versions field. Data in the Affected Versions field does not impact the progress information here.

Hi @Trudy Claspill ,

I have double checked and you are absolutely right on this. The progress function is only available for Fix Versions field, not for Affects Version or any other custom field. Do you know whether there is a way to let other fields enjoy this feature? Thanks a lot.

There is not a way to incorporate other Version Picker fields in the built-in Releases screen.

I don't see a built in Dashboard gadget for this either.

You could use the native Dashboard gadget "Issue Statistics", and using a Saved Filter that selects all the issues in a specific release, and set Status as the issue Statistic. That will show you the number and percentage of issue in each status. It is not the same as a progress bar, but it would provide info about the percentage of issues completed.

I would bet that there are also third party apps available from the Marketplace that might provide similar progress bar functionality.
