View attachments

Hi,

we are using Jira 8.5.1 server version (local instatallation). How is it possible to vie attachments in Jira? Right now we have first to download the file to a local folder and then we can open the file. Isn't it possible to directly view the file (the system might download the file to a local temp folder) from Jira?

Hello Stefan.

Sorry to hear you are facing this problem.

Indeed, Jira gives you a preview for some attachment when you click on them in the issue view, like JPG and PDF files, however, that preview is not available yet for some extensions, like DOC (See JRASERVER-64979).

That being said, can you please let us know what is the file extension that you are trying to display a preview in Jira?

Additionally, I suggest you check if the file can be previewed in a different browser or network, also verifying if any errors are returned in the browser's developer console when trying to preview the attachment.

Indeed, JIRA does not support preview for DOC files as mentioned before, although we have a feature request to get it implemented:

- Attachment Preview for Word Files in JIRA
